• Launch the Imation Disk Manager, you should see AAXXXXXXXXXX on the right side.

Q. Why I get this “write-protected” message whenever I try to copy files?

• By the side of the Flash drive, you should see a lock/unlock button. Please push the button to the unlock position. To lock & unlock, you do not need to plug out the flash drive.

Q. How do I create a Public Area only?

• Launch the Disk Manager Software.
  Click create partition.
  Select Public Area only (Single Partition).
  Click OK.
  After formatting please remove your flash and connect it back again.

Q. Why I get this “write-protected” message even after I have push the button to the unlock position.

• When you encounter this error message and the ‘hardware’ side-lock does not help.
  Please download the Disk Manager V a software from our web-site and try this below.
  
  
  
  Device is in software unlock mode.
  To software lock, select/press the "Device Write Protect Disabled" button once.
  
  
  
  Device is in software lock mode.
  Notice that the "Device Write Protect Enabled" button is in blue.
  
  To unlock, press the button once again.
  
  Notice the button becomes black in color again.
  The device is in unlock mode.

• Launch the Disk Manager Software.
  Click create partition.
  Select Security Area only (Single Partition).
  Key in your password.
  Click OK.
  After formatting please remove your flash and connect it back again.
  You must login in first before using.
  To login you must use the Disk Manager software.

Q. How do I create a Public & Security Area?

• Launch the Disk Manager Software.
  Click create partition.
  Select Public & Security Area.
  Key in desired space for Security Area.
  Key in your password.
  Click OK.
  After formatting please remove your flash and connect it back again.
  You must login in first before using.
  To login you must use the Disk Manager software.

  Please note that all data will be lost when you start to partition the drive.
  To avoid any data loss, copy all data from the USB drive to your hard drive.

Q. How do I install the New Disk Manager V a software?

• Do a backup of the data in the flash drive first.
  Delete the old Disk Manager software from the flash drive or from your hard disk.
  Copy the new software in.
  Use the new disk manager to do a format/partition of the drive, to get a 'fresh' start.

• The new disk manager V a software have a special function, it is a 'software lock'.
  After you have launched the software, on the top left-hand corner there is a button named as 'device write protect disabled'. This is a software lock.
  This new feature allows you to have the flexibility of 'software locking' the flash drive. This means that if you have selected the button, you cannot write/edit the data to the flash drive.
  To unlock, just select the button again. With this added feature, the flash drive is equipped with a hardware physical lock, software lock and the disk manager password protection.
